FAQ
Is this tool free?
Yes — no sign-up, no installation, completely free to use right away.
What is this tool?
The Taxi Fare Calculator finds the real road driving distance and travel time between two places (station names and landmarks work best) and estimates the taxi fare using each city’s official tariff. It currently supports Seoul, Busan, Tokyo (23 wards) and Osaka, covering base fare, distance increments and slow-traffic time charges. Night surcharges differ by city (Japan +20%, Seoul +20–40%, Busan +20–30%), so day and night fares are shown together. Results are estimates — actual meter fares vary with route, traffic and tolls — calculated from the latest official fare revisions. Handy for trip budgeting, late-night ride costs, and planning travel in Korea and Japan.
Will the fare match the actual meter?
It’s an estimate. Actual fares vary with the driver’s route, traffic (slow-speed time charges), tolls and out-of-area surcharges. Calculations follow each city’s official tariff.
Why is the night fare shown as a range?
Seoul’s surcharge varies by hour (20% at 22–23, 40% at 23–02, 20% at 02–04), so we show a min–max range. Tokyo and Osaka use a flat +20% (22:00–05:00), shown as one value.
My address isn’t found.
The free map data (OSM) recognizes station names, landmarks and well-known buildings better than detailed street addresses. Try “Seoul Station”, “Shinjuku Station” or “Tokyo Tower”.
Will more cities be added?
Currently Seoul, Busan, Tokyo (23 wards) and Osaka are supported. More cities will be added after verifying their official tariffs.
