此間樂 不思蜀

It is so pleasant here that I do not think of Shu at all.

Liu Shan劉禪

ko이곳이 즐거워서, 촉 생각은 나지 않습니다.

jaここが楽しくて、蜀のことは思い出しません。

The scene behind the words

The deposed Liu Shan’s answer when Sima Zhao, pointedly staging the music of Shu, asked if he missed his homeland. An old retainer coached him to weep next time — he tried it verbatim, was caught, and the whole hall burst out laughing. A byword for foolishness ever since; yet the reading persists that this very answer dissolved all suspicion and let him die peacefully of old age.
