The scene behind the words
With Yuan Shu’s army marching on Liu Bei, Lü Bu summoned commanders from both sides to a banquet and made this straight-faced announcement — then planted his halberd 150 paces away and, staking peace on a single arrow, hit the blade’s side-branch dead center. The most stylish moment in the record of history’s great betrayer, which makes the deadpan all the funnier.
